THE MEATBALL SHOP

He told us that he and his partner were expanding and were looking for a new chair design -- easy, right?
We met Michael Chernow, co-owner of NYC’s booming eatery The Meatball Shop, while we were working on our tans last summer at the Brooklyn Flea in Williamsburg. We had our booth set up near the entrance so he caught us right as he was coming in, he told us that he and his partner were expanding and were looking for a new chair design -- easy, right?
Turns out building the perfect chair is harder than it sounds (their old chairs had a tendency to tip over when heavy winter coats were draped over the backs), which is why we built 4 prototypes before we settled on a final design. Today those chairs serve every customer in The Meatball Shop’s Upper East Side location, feel free to throw whatever you want over the back because it isn’t going anywhere.
