If there's a downside to salvaging as much material as we do, it's the amount of scrap wood left over after a dining table or console has been completed. Throwing out usable material is the last thing we want to do, instead we save our scrap and put it to use whenever and wherever possible.
These tables are made using that very scrap, we build the base using oak cutoffs over a birch substrate. The top is a steel sheet that 'floats' over spacers and it's attached to the frame with inset brass screws, the legs are hairpins welded right here in our BK shop.
Wood is finished with poly and hand-rubbed beeswax, the steel is clear-coated to protect against future oxidization. We're a built-to-order fabrication shop so message us if you want this piece to be modified -- bigger, smaller, patina on the steel, different legs.... whatever you need, we can make it happen. All items are handmade at the time of purchase, due to overwhelming demand we ask for 10-12 weeks lead time (rush orders available for an upcharge). You can pick-up from our workshop or you can choose delivery to NYC for $50-100 depending on location, message us your zip code for an accurate shipping quote.
