So what do you do with the century-old floor beams you pull from buildings located all over the borough of Brooklyn? You could do what most contractors do and throw them away, I suppose, or you could do what we've been doing since the day we started -- reclaim them, mill them down and give them a second life. In this case those old floor beams have become these mirrors, we're more than happy to put material that was destined for the landfill back into circulation.
Mirror frames are pine, we finish each one with poly and hand-rubbed beeswax. The lighting shroud is welded right here in our shop, we finish it with a clear-coat to protect against future rusting before we run the cord out the bottom and add the mirror. The finished product is a 72 x 34 x 3" thick beast and houses 2 standard sockets, edison bulbs included.
